Hi! I’m Jodie, Founder and Owner of Ogden 1914.
Having moved to Calgary in September of 2018, I am still a new transplant. In the short time I have been here I have discovered so many creatives and local business. Clothing, skin care, pottery, jewelry, zero waste, sauces, ice cream, beer, tea. I feel so lucky to be able to access the variety of goods created in Calgary.
While my love of local is now encompassed by Calgary, it started abroad. I was fortunate to have many opportunities to travel in my early 20’s and have always purchased handmade souvenirs from local markets. A necklace in Hawaii, a scarf in Cambodia, a couple small paintings in Jamaica.
I remember the first local market I went to. I was still living in my hometown of Abbotsford, BC; Mom and I went together. There were so many amazing products! I purchased a pair of earrings, tea, and the most delicious peanut butter marshmallows. As I have moved to new cities I continue to search out local products, usually starting with the farmers market and branching out from there.
I often find myself recommending local products, restaurants, and businesses to friends, family, and coworkers. When I find a good thing I want to share it. So, I decided to package it up in a pretty gift bag and share my knowledge and love of all things local with you.
“I have no special talents, I am only passionately curious.”
